How long do I have access to a course after I buy it?

Based on course type:

Self-paced recorded courses — lifetime access. Once you purchase, the course is yours to revisit as often as you like.
Live online course recordings — recordings are accessible for 6 weeks after the course completes.
Monthly subscriptions (Jennifer's class) — as long as you have an active subscription, you will have access to the previous 5 weeks of recordings

Can I download recorded videos to watch offline?

No — we don't allow video downloads, even for pre-recorded lessons.
You can still watch your purchased pre-recorded videos anytime, as many times as you want, and they don't expire.
For live online class recordings, access expires after the class ends (typically 2 or 4 weeks after posting, depending on the class), so it's best to watch them during that window.

How do I sign up for an online class? What's the process?

Signing up is straightforward: find a course you'd like, click Enroll, and complete checkout. Once you purchase any product, an account is automatically created for you. Just use the same email address to log in.
Your courses live under My Courses once you're signed in.

I'm a complete beginner — is there a course right for me?

Absolutely. Drawing America has courses designed specifically for beginners — no prior experience required. A great starting point is Introduction to Drawing for Beginners, which covers foundational skills at a comfortable pace.
Look for courses labeled "Beginner" or "All Levels" in the catalog. You can also filter by skill level.

Is this a live online class, a recorded video, or both?

We offer both — and it varies by course, so it's always noted in the course description.

Live online courses take place on a set schedule, either on Zoom or our native video widget. You can join in real time and interact with the instructor. Recordings are made available afterward if you miss a session.
Pre-recorded courses are available on demand — watch at your own pace, with no set dates.

Can I buy a course as a gift for someone else?

Yes — courses make great gifts. You can purchase any course and have it assigned to someone else's account.
To gift a course: purchase it as usual, then contact us with the recipient's name and email address. We'll transfer the course to their account within one business day.
We don't currently have a formal gift card system, but this manual gift transfer process works smoothly and we do it regularly.

Is there a refund policy if the course isn't what I expected?

Based on course type:

Weekly in-person classes — full refund if you cancel at least 48 hours before class; no refund if you cancel within 48 hours.
Monthly and premium courses — full refund if you cancel at least 72 hours before the course starts; no refund if you cancel within 72 hours.
Online courses — no refunds after a live online course begins, and no refunds after access is granted for self-paced courses.

What do I need to bring to the in-person course? Are the necessary materials provided?

For our in-person courses, we provide studio equipment like easels and drawing boards, and basic drawing supplies are available to borrow (lower quality than buying your own). 

We recommend:

Bring your own supplies (recommended: 2H, HB, 2B, 4B pencils; 11x14 or larger pad; kneaded eraser; blending stumps optional).

For some monthly and premium courses, the course page lists any special material requirements (like oil painting supplies).
