Drawing through close study of the museum’s Greek and Roman figure sculptures

Instructed Drawing Night at the Met focuses on charcoal pencil drawing through close study of the museum’s Greek and Roman figure sculptures. Our instructor, Elizabeth Johnson, will guide students in developing technical control of charcoal pencils while working from these classical forms. After a brief demonstration, students will create charcoal drawings throughout the gallery under the instructor’s guidance.

Materials: Charcoal Pencils only*** (HB and 4B)
2H Graphite pencil
Small & Medium blending stump
Kneaded eraser

Drawing paper

Important Information

The doors to our events open 15 minutes before each session. If you arrive before then, there is no room to wait inside the building, so please plan accordingly. The doorman will direct you to the classroom.

This event occurs on the third floor of a building without an elevator. Latecomers will be seated at the discretion of the monitor.

There is no photography when the model is posing.

We kindly ask that ticket rescheduling be requested at least 48 hours before class. Space is limited, and we hold spots for all ticket holders.
