Jordi Lafebre Storytelling Illustration
Available with subtitles in English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, and Korean.
About the Course
Jordi Lafebre has spent 20 years creating images for clients like Netflix Animation and Marvel Studios. In this course, he shows you exactly how.
Across graphic novels, animation, and illustration, Jordi has built work around a single principle: every line, every color, every composition choice exists to serve the story.
In this 6-class course, he takes you through that process in real time. Starting from a blank concept — a sleep-deprived father pushing a stroller through Manhattan at night — he develops a complete illustrated piece from first idea to final color, explaining every decision along the way.
You'll learn how conflict drives composition, why references aren't a shortcut but a professional tool, how a single brush size can carry an entire narrative, and how the Curves tool in Photoshop can shift the emotional atmosphere of an entire scene.
This isn't a course about technique for its own sake. It's a course about understanding why — and once you do, your drawings change permanently.

What Our Students Are Saying
Certified Student

"I've already been applying what I learned, especially his color finishing process using the Photoshop curves. It really helped me give more depth and harmony to my illustrations."
Materials List
This course is entirely digital. You'll need Photoshop (any version, including older ones) or a comparable digital painting program such as Procreate on iPad. Jordi works in an old version of Photoshop in Spanish — if he can make it work, yours will be fine. No physical supplies required.
About Your Instructor
Jordi Lafebre
Jordi Lafebre is a Barcelona-based comic artist and illustrator with more than 20 years of professional work. His clients include Netflix Animation, Marvel Studios, Dargaud, Passion Pictures, Superprod, and Dupuis. He has been publishing graphic novels since 1998 and working as a freelance artist full-time ever since.
His graphic novels — including Glorious Summers and Always Never — have earned him international recognition: the Prix Uderzo (2021), the Prix de la différence at Angoulême (2011), Silver and Bronze at the International Manga Award in Japan, the Prix Diagonal in Belgium, and the Prix Bédélix d'or in Québec.
Jordi's teaching is direct and rooted in professional practice: how conflict builds composition, how a single brush size can carry an entire illustration, and how to use color not as decoration but as a storytelling tool.
"I love cartooning; I've done it since I was a kid. I love to tell stories; Even a single image has a little story inside. The emotion in the pictures is the most essential thing, followed closely by the characters."
"My job is to find the characters and "catch" them for the story... My goal is always to show who they really are."
